Features to know about

Stop Freeze Damage Before It Starts

Water lines split open when they freeze. Batteries lose charge faster in the cold. Engines, pumps, and other critical systems might not survive those nights that fall below zero. That's exactly what this heater was built to prevent. At 600 watts, it has the power to keep medium-sized RV basements and boat engine compartments above freezing, and the forced-air design pushes heat into the corners where damage usually starts.

Permanent Bracket Holds It in Place

This kit includes a mounting bracket, made for RV and boat owners who don't plan to move their heater around. The anodized aluminum resists corrosion, so it can stay installed year after year without worry. Once mounted, it stays put with a four-point bolt-on design that keeps it secure in engine compartments or RV bays. Plus, the heater itself comes with a 15' marine-rated cord with a standard plug attached, so you've got some length to place it where you need (and you don't need to hardwire anything).

Thermostat Automatically Turns On and Off

You have better things to do than sit there watching a gauge. That's why the thermostat is fixed to switch on at 40ºF and shut down at 55ºF, which is the range that keeps your plumbing, batteries, and tanks safe. It's high enough to stop freeze damage, but it doesn't waste energy making it warmer than you need.

Ignition Protection Keeps You Safe

Putting any electrical gear in an enclosed space can make people cautious, especially around fuel. This unit is ignition-protected, which means it's been tested to make sure it won't ignite fuel vapors in engine compartments or bays. For boaters, that's critical for safety when mounting in the bilge. For RV owners, it means reliable operation even in tight spaces where safety standards really matter.

Notes:

  • If your boat is docked on a lift or trailer, you may need to consider increasing the wattage of the heater up one level to compensate for heat loss. Make sure to cover the fresh air vents to prevent air from escaping and the cold from coming in, resulting in a more efficient heater and saving you money.
  • Because boats vary in materials, insulation, and design, it's essential to carefully assess your specific needs and climate to determine the most suitable heater. In some cases, depending on the size and configuration of your boat, more than one heater may be necessary to ensure adequate protection.

Video Transcript for Review of Xtreme Heaters RV Heaters - Medium Boat RV Heater With Mounting Bracket - XH87FR

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this Xtreme Heaters medium boat and RV heater with mounting bracket. Now this 600 watt Xtreme Heater is gonna be the perfect choice for most boats up to 28 feet long, including single engine, pocket cruisers, large runabouts, sailboats, fishing boats, and smaller boats that are stored on a lift or trailer. This medium-sized heater is designed to efficiently maintain above freezing temperatures in your engine compartment. That's going to ensure that your boat is protected from the cold weather, and it's gonna be ideal for larger storage compartments with batteries, generators, and water tanks. And so this is again gonna be great for your single engine boats, this 600 watt heater, this is gonna give you reliable performance in really a compact form.

It's specifically engineered to circulate warm air effectively whether your boat is in the water or stored on the lift. And this heater is gonna help protect against the risks of cold weather. So this is gonna really be an essential addition to your winterization process, whether it's in your RV or in your boat. And if your boat is stored on a lift or a trailer, we do recommend choosing a heater one size larger than the suggested model, or a second heater for optimal performance. So the true forced air heating circulates air more effectively and it's going to heat more evenly for more accurate climate control while maintaining critical systems above freezing in cold weather.

It has a fail safe design that cannot overheat and the heating technology is dynamic and self-regulating. And the automatic thermostat is going to turn this heater on at 40 degrees Fahrenheit and then off at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. The corrosion resistant, fully anodized unit is ignition protected. It's gonna hold up really well for you, very durable. And it's gonna be a relatively easy installation, it's got a pretty small footprint, and it's got a pre-wired 15 foot long marine rated power cord.

As you can see, it's got the standard three prong plug. And just going over some measurements of the unit itself, the overall height is about 5 1/8 inches tall. The overall width is about three and a half inches. And then the overall length, not including the mounting feet there is gonna be about eight inches long, when you include the mounting feet, a little over nine inches. So this has been certified and independently tested.

It is tested to the US Coast Ignition protected standards and it's MIL-SPEC tested for vibration, humidity, and high/low temperatures. As you saw here, this does include this mounting bracket and you can use this mounting bracket to mount this either horizontal, vertical, or even upside down. And it's going to give you a secure, permanent mounting with the included hardware. And the plate itself is also constructed of anodized aluminum, so it's gonna hold up really well. There's hardly any flex to it when I push, so it's not gonna corrode or anything like that. Overall length, about 12 and three quarters inches long, five inches wide. So very durable unit. It's gonna give you the heat where you need it most and I think it's really gonna be a pretty simple install as well. Now if you are looking for the heater without a mounting bracket and you just want the heater itself, we do have you covered in that regard. Or you can get this heater with a quick release bracket instead of the standard mounting bracket. So if you wanna way to where you can just take this heater out of a certain compartment quickly when you don't need it, we do have a quick release bracket option available. So on your screen as you can see there, I'm including the heater without any brackets, just the heater itself, and then the heater with the quick release bracket. Whichever one would work better for you. Over and above this standard mounting. This mounting bracket option, you can take the the number that is gonna work best for you, pop it in the search fill of our website. That will take you to that heater with the quick release bracket or with no bracket. You can add that one to your order instead. So I feel like I've given you quite a bit of information here. If there's any clarification that you need or any other further questions that you might have, don't hesitate to reach back out to us. We ultimately wanna make sure that you're getting exactly what you want and need. Well, that's gonna wrap up our quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

So far it works great. Put it in the underbelly of a 5th wheel and used the fixed mounting plate. Wasn't sure if I needed the quick disconnect bracket or the fixed but the fixed worked fine. Haven't had to switch it on yet but will let you know if I have any trouble.

The Xtreme Heaters 600 watt heater (XH87FR) hits that middle ground where it is strong enough for mid-size RV bays and boat compartments but still compact and easy to install. I was impressed that it comes with a bolt-on mounting bracket, which makes it a permanent setup you do not have to mess with year after year. The thermostat takes care of itself, kicking on at forty degrees and shutting off at fifty five, so you know your water lines, tanks, and batteries stay safe without wasting power. The forced air fan keeps the heat moving so you don’t end up with cold corners where freeze damage usually starts. This is a great option for boats up to around twenty eight feet or for RVs with medium storage bays. It is not the best fit if you are dealing with a very large engine room or a wide RV basement since you would want the 800 watt or even a second unit in that case.
